Staring at three or four balances on three or four statements makes it hard to answer one simple question: when am I actually done. On Android, Debt Planner & Calculator by kickinglettuce built a following by turning that mess into a single payoff plan, with snowball and avalanche methods built in. We built Debt Freedom Planner, a free tool that runs right here in your browser: add your debts, drag a few sliders, and watch your debt-free date move in real time. No install, no signup.
Plan your payoff now
It loads with three example debts already on screen so you see a real result immediately. Edit them to match your own, or add up to five.
How to use it
Each debt gets three sliders: balance, interest rate, and minimum payment. Set the extra amount you can put toward debt each month, then pick a strategy. Avalanche targets your highest interest rate first, which minimizes total interest paid. Snowball targets your smallest balance first, which clears individual debts faster and tends to keep people motivated. The chart shows both: a solid stacked area for the strategy you picked and a dashed line tracking what the other strategy would do with the same numbers, so you can see exactly what switching would cost or save you in time and interest. Add a debt with the button under the list, or remove one once you have more than two. Everything you enter is saved on your device only; nothing leaves your browser.
Try this: leave the debts alone and just raise the extra payment slider by fifty dollars. Watch how much faster the debt-free month arrives compared to how much interest that fifty dollars saves you. Small, consistent extra payments usually move the date more than switching strategies does.
How it compares to Debt Planner & Calculator
We should be straight about what this is. Debt Freedom Planner does one job: it runs the snowball and avalanche math live, in a browser, for up to five debts. Debt Planner & Calculator is built for people managing this for real over months and years. The full app links to your accounts to pull in balances automatically, sends reminders before payments are due, syncs your plan across your phone and other devices, and keeps a history of your progress so you are not starting from scratch every time you check in.
What we kept is the piece most people want in the moment: enter your numbers, compare the two methods, see the finish line. What we dropped is everything that depends on an account: no bank linking, no push notifications, no cloud backup, no login.
Our honest advice: use Debt Freedom Planner when you want to test a strategy or convince yourself that an extra payment is worth it, right now, without creating an account. Get the full app when you are ready to actually run the plan month after month and want reminders and synced data doing the tracking for you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between debt snowball and debt avalanche?
Snowball pays off your smallest balance first regardless of interest rate, then rolls that payment into the next-smallest debt. Avalanche pays off your highest interest rate first, which saves the most money over time. Both use every dollar you can spare beyond minimum payments; they just disagree on which debt gets that extra dollar first. The calculator above runs both simultaneously so you can see the actual month and dollar difference for your own numbers instead of guessing.
Is this debt payoff calculator free?
Yes, completely. There is no signup, no download, and no limit on how many times you run the numbers. It works entirely in your browser, and your debts and settings are stored in your browser’s local storage on your device, so they are still there next time you open the page.
Does this calculator send my financial information anywhere?
No. Every number you enter stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no account is created, and we have no server that sees your balances. That is also why the plan only exists on the device you built it on; it will not appear on your phone if you built it on a laptop.
Are the results financial advice?
No. This is a planning estimate based on the balances, rates, and payments you type in, assuming they stay fixed and every payment lands on time. Real accounts have variable rates, fees, and promotional periods that shift the numbers. For decisions about specific accounts or a formal debt plan, talk to a credit counselor or financial advisor.
Is this the official Debt Planner & Calculator app?
No. Debt Freedom Planner is an original tool we built, inspired by the payoff calculators inside Debt Planner & Calculator. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to kickinglettuce in any way. If you want account linking, reminders, and synced tracking across devices, get the official app from the store link above.
