How to use it
The grid has four rows, kick, snare, hi-hat and clap, across sixteen steps. Tap any cell to turn it on or off; the playhead loops across the grid in real time, so every change you make plays on the next pass. Drag the BPM slider from 60 to 200 to speed the groove up or slow it down while it plays. On a keyboard, arrow keys move between steps and space or enter toggles the one you land on.
Tap “Today’s groove” for a fresh pattern and tempo seeded from the date, a different one every day, and either keep it or build on top of it. Your pattern, tempo and mute setting save on your device only. Nothing leaves your browser.
How it compares to Beat Groove Pad
Pulse Grid keeps the part of Beat Groove Pad that hooks people: a 16-step grid you tap to build a beat, looping back on itself the moment you press play. That loop is the whole appeal, and it survives the trip to a browser tab just fine.
Beat Groove Pad goes much further. The real app ships 72 drum kits spanning acoustic, trap, hip hop, jazz and 8-bit sounds, plus more than 50 ready-made patterns and loops to build on. Its mixer runs up to eight channels with reverb, quantize, mute and solo, and swing quantization lets you push a pattern off the grid into a human feel. None of that is in our version. We synthesize four drum sounds with the Web Audio API instead of sampling real kits, we cap the grid at four instruments, and there is no way to save more than one pattern or export audio.
