How to play
The Reference tab opens straight into a full periodic table, color-coded by category (alkali metal, transition metal, noble gas, and the rest, with a legend above the grid). Tap or click any tile, on touch or with a mouse, and its name, symbol, atomic number, atomic mass, category, and state at room temperature show up in the panel underneath. The table is wider than a phone screen by design, the same way a real periodic table poster is, so scroll it sideways or pinch to zoom; nothing about it is cut off.
The Daily quiz tab picks one of the 118 elements using today’s date, so everyone gets the same target. You get a clue right away (its category), and each wrong tap on the grid reveals another: state at room temperature, an atomic mass range, the first letter of its name, its period, and finally the exact atomic number, which always pins down a single correct tile. Your score is the number of guesses it took to solve it, and lower is better. Hit Practice round any time for an instant, non-spoiling round with a different element, so you can try the format again without giving away today’s answer. Your streak, days played, and best score are saved on this device. Nothing leaves your browser.

What we left out is everything a dedicated study app builds around that core: saved search history, spaced-repetition flashcard modes, offline packs, and account sync across devices. Is Atom Atlas the real Periodic Table app?
No. Atom Atlas is an original tool we built. It shares the goal, real element data in a tappable grid, but the design, code, and quiz format are our own. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the developer of the Periodic Table app.
Is the element data accurate?
Yes. All 118 elements are included with their standard atomic number, atomic mass, category, and state at room temperature, checked against standard chemistry references.
Does the daily quiz change every day?
Yes. The target element is selected from today’s date, so everyone playing on a given day gets the same one. Play the Practice round as many times as you like in between; it always picks a different element so it never spoils the daily answer.
Where is my score and streak stored?
In your browser’s local storage, on your device only. We do not run accounts or sync anything to a server, so clearing your browser data resets your streak and best score. Use the Share button after solving a round if you want to post your result.
