How to use it
Task Lanes has three fixed columns: To do, Doing, and Done. Type into the box at the top of To do and press Enter to add a card. From there, move a card between columns three ways: drag it with a mouse or a finger, tap the small arrow buttons on the card, or focus a card with the keyboard and press the left or right arrow key. Every card also has an x button to delete it. Moving a card into Done bumps your “cleared today” count and, if you clear at least one card a day, builds a day streak, shown at the top of the board. Add or move a card and the board saves itself instantly, no save button anywhere. Everything, including your cards and your streak, stays in your browser’s local storage on your device; nothing leaves your browser or gets uploaded anywhere.
How it compares to Trello
Task Lanes keeps the part of Trello that actually gets used minute to minute: three columns, cards you can drag or tap between them, and a clean, distraction-free view of what is To do, in progress, or Done. That is the loop most people open Trello for, running in a browser tab with zero setup.
What we left out is everything that makes Trello a team tool rather than a personal one. There is no login, so there is nothing to share, no boards beyond the one on your screen, no due dates, checklists, attachments, or Power-Ups, and no automation rules. Trello also syncs across every device you sign into; Task Lanes lives only in the browser storage of the device you are using right now, so it will not follow you to your phone unless you open this same page there.
