White Noise Lite has been a fixture on Android for years, with millions of people leaving it running through the night or through a workday to mask distractions. Most of what makes it useful is a handful of looping ambient sounds and a volume slider for each. None of that needs an app install. We built Hush Mix, a browser-based sound blender that synthesizes rain, fan noise, ocean waves and more directly on your device. Open the page, press play, and it keeps running for as long as you need it.
Play Hush Mix now
Press play, then drag the sliders until the mix sounds right. It keeps playing while you work, study or fall asleep.
How to use it
Five layers sit on screen at once: rain, fan, ocean waves, night crickets and soft static. Each has its own slider from 0 to 100, and dragging one changes that sound’s volume immediately, no “generate” step involved. The sliders work with touch, mouse, or keyboard arrows once focused, and a small waveform above the mixer moves with whatever is currently playing.
Tap the large play button to start; audio stays silent until then, since browsers block sound until you interact with the page anyway. A mute toggle in the header lets you go quiet for a moment without losing your mix or restarting anything. The sleep timer fades everything out gently after 15 to 90 minutes, useful for falling asleep without the sound running all night. Your mix and your day streak save automatically to this device. Nothing you set here is ever sent anywhere.
How it compares to White Noise Lite
Hush Mix keeps the part of White Noise Lite that most people actually use: a set of looping ambient sounds you can blend and leave running, with a timer to fade them out. Everything on this page is synthesized live with the Web Audio API rather than played from recorded audio files, which is why it loads instantly and keeps working offline once the page is open.
What it drops is everything beyond the mixer. White Noise Lite ships a much larger sound library, including binaural and nature-recording options, custom sound uploads, alarm clock integration, a widget, and background playback that survives the app being closed on your phone. Hush Mix is a browser tab: close it and the sound stops, and it has no alarm or scheduling features at all.
If you want five solid layers to blend for a work session or a nap, this page does the job for free with nothing to install. If you sleep with ambient sound every night and want alarms, a wider sound library, or playback that keeps going in the background while you use other apps, the original app is built for exactly that and is worth having on your phone.
Get the full app
White Noise Lite is made by TMSOFT and remains one of the most installed ambient sound apps on Android, with a large sound library and background playback beyond what a browser tab can offer.
Bottom line: Hush Mix covers a quick session at your desk or bedside; White Noise Lite is the better pick for nightly use with alarms, a bigger sound library, and background playback.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play white noise online without downloading anything?
Yes. Hush Mix runs entirely in your browser tab using the Web Audio API. There is nothing to install and no account to create; open the page and press play.
Is this the real White Noise Lite app?
No. Hush Mix is an original tool we built, inspired by the ambient sound mixing in White Noise Lite. We are not affiliated with TMSOFT in any way. If you want the full sound library, alarms, and background playback, use the download links above.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Every sound is generated in your browser using filtered noise and oscillators, not played from audio files, so once the page has loaded it keeps working without an internet connection. Your mix and streak are stored in your browser on this device only and are never uploaded anywhere.
Is it free?
Completely. There are no ads, no premium tier, and no limit on how long you can leave it running. White Noise Lite itself is also free to install, with an optional paid version (White Noise) that adds more sounds and removes ads.
Will the sound keep playing if I switch tabs or lock my phone?
It keeps playing while the tab stays open in the background, but a browser tab cannot continue playing after your phone screen locks or the app is fully closed, unlike a native app. For sound that survives a locked screen overnight, install White Noise Lite instead.
