How to play
On desktop, W and S drive forward and back, A and D turn the hull, the mouse aims the turret, and a click or the space bar fires. On phones, the left pad drives and turns while a drag anywhere on the right side of the screen swings the turret, independent of which way the hull is pointed, and a tap on FIRE sends a shell downrange. That split is the whole point: you can be retreating behind a ridge while still keeping your gun trained on the tank chasing you.
Each round runs about a hundred seconds against four AI tanks that respawn after you knock them out, so the clock rewards aggression more than turtling behind the same rock all game. Score comes from damage dealt plus a bonus for every kill. Your best score for the day saves to this device, nothing leaves your browser, and a lost tank or an empty clock just means tapping Play again for a fresh run on the same map.
How Ironclad Ridge compares to World of Tanks
Ironclad Ridge keeps the mechanic that actually makes World of Tanks fun: a turret that aims independently of the hull, terrain that blocks shots as much as it blocks movement, and the short burst of tension between spotting a target and landing the hit. The low-poly hills genuinely hide tanks from each other, so working the high ground and firing from behind a ridge instead of driving straight at the enemy line matters here too.
What it drops is everything that makes World of Tanks a fifteen-year live game: no tech tree, no tier progression from light scouts to tier-ten heavies, no crew skills, no premium tanks or gold ammunition, and no matchmaking against other humans. There is one tank type, one arena per day, and a single AI difficulty that ramps up over the length of the round instead of across a season. We also skipped armor penetration angles and shell types entirely in favor of a flat damage model, since simulating World of Tanks’ full ballistics engine in a page that has to load in under three seconds was never the goal.
