It is a good idea and it works, but it also means an app install and an account just to browse names for twenty minutes on the couch. We built Name Spark, a free browser version of that same swipe loop. Filter by gender or starting letter, swipe through real names with their meaning and origin attached, and save the ones you like. How to use it
Set filters at the top before you start swiping: gender (boy, girl, or unisex), an origin like Hebrew, Sanskrit, or Celtic, and a starting letter if you already have one in mind. Every filter updates the deck instantly, no button to press. Each card shows the name in large type with its meaning, origin, and a familiarity indicator underneath, so you know at a glance whether a name is a classic or a rare find.
Swipe or drag the card right to save a name to your shortlist, left to skip it. Arrow keys work too: right arrow or Enter saves, left arrow or Escape skips, so the whole thing is usable without touch or a mouse. A small “name of the day” card sits above the deck, the same for everyone on a given day, in case you want a name to think about without swiping.
Switch to the Shortlist tab any time to review what you have saved, remove entries you have changed your mind on, and share your list. Your shortlist and filter choices are saved on your device, so closing the tab and coming back later brings everything right where you left it.

Yes. Your shortlist and filter settings are saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, including when you use Share, which only sends how many names you saved, never the names themselves.
