How it works
Every day there is one lesson: ten multiple-choice questions drawn from a bank of core Spanish and French vocabulary. The daily set is seeded from the date, so everyone in the world gets the same ten words you do. Complete the lesson on consecutive days and your streak grows, exactly the mechanic that keeps people opening Duolingo for years. Miss a day and it resets, which is the whole point.
Wrong answers are handled calmly. You see the correct word immediately, and every miss is listed again at the end so you can review before tomorrow. Each correct answer earns 10 XP, and when the daily lesson is done a practice mode serves random questions for as long as you want.
Your streak, XP and language choice are saved on your device and nowhere else. Nothing leaves your browser, there is no account, and sound is off by default with a visible toggle.
How it compares to Duolingo
Let us be plain: this is a supplement, not a course. Duolingo teaches grammar, listening comprehension and speaking across dozens of languages, with structured units that build on each other over months. It has stories, spaced repetition tuned by years of learner data, and courses for languages we do not cover at all.
Vocab Streak keeps exactly one piece of that: the daily habit loop. Ten recognition questions a day will grow and refresh your core vocabulary, and the streak gives you a reason to show up tomorrow. It will not teach you to conjugate verbs, hold a conversation or understand spoken French.
Where it wins is friction. There is nothing to install, no account to create, and the first question is on screen within seconds. Does everyone get the same ten words?
Yes, on any given day. The daily lesson is generated from the date itself, so a learner in Tokyo and a learner in Lisbon answer the same ten questions. Practice rounds after the daily lesson are random.
Does the quiz work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes. The quiz is a single file with no external requests, so it keeps working if your connection drops mid-session. Your streak and XP live in your browser’s local storage, so they survive reloads on the same device.
