Fuel cost calculator for Android answers the question every road trip starts with: what will the fuel cost? That is arithmetic a web page can do just as well, so we built Trip Tank, a free calculator that runs right here in your browser. Enter a distance, your car’s efficiency, and the pump price, and the cost, the fuel you need, and each person’s share appear instantly. No install, no signup.

Use Trip Tank now

It opens with a worked example already on screen: 320 km at 7.5 L/100 km, split between two people. Change any number, switch units, or tap round trip and watch the total move.

How to use it

Set the distance with the slider or type it in, then pick kilometres or miles. Choose your car’s efficiency in L/100 km, km/L, mpg US, or mpg UK, and the fuel price per litre or gallon follows that choice. Add tolls or extra stops if you have them, turn on round trip for the drive back, and use the plus and minus buttons to split the cost between up to nine people.

There is no calculate button. The sticky bar at the top always shows the total and each person’s share, and below it you get the fuel needed, cost per kilometre or mile, and an approximate CO2 figure based on 2.31 kg per litre of petrol. Two charts show how cost grows with distance and what a frugal or thirsty car would cost on the same trip.

At the bottom sits a trip of the day: a seeded drive, the same for everyone that day. Estimate the total in your head, lock in your guess, and get a score out of 100. Your settings, score, and streak are saved on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.

How it compares to Fuel cost calculator

Trip Tank keeps the core loop of the app: enter distance, consumption, and price, and see what the trip costs. We added a cost-per-person split, a round-trip switch, unit conversion between metric and both gallon systems, and the charts.

We deliberately left out accounts, saved vehicle profiles, and trip history. A page you land on mid-search should answer the question in a few seconds, not ask you to set anything up first. The estimate is also only as good as the numbers you give it. Real consumption shifts with speed, load, weather, and traffic, so treat the result as a planning figure, not a quote.

Our advice: use Trip Tank for a quick check on any device, including a friend’s phone or a laptop at the planning stage. Install the app if you want a calculator that lives on your home screen and opens without a browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate fuel cost for a trip?

Divide the distance by your car’s efficiency to get the fuel used, then multiply by the price per litre or gallon. At 320 km, 7.5 L/100 km, and 1.65 per litre, that is 24 litres and 39.60 in fuel. Trip Tank does this live as you move any input, and it handles L/100 km, km/L, mpg US, and mpg UK.

How do I split fuel costs between passengers?

Use the plus and minus buttons to set how many people share the trip, including the driver. Trip Tank divides the total, tolls and extras included, by that number and shows each share in the bar at the top.

Does it work for round trips and miles?

Yes. Switch the distance unit between kilometres and miles, and turn on round trip to double the distance for the drive home. Your existing numbers convert when you change units, so you do not have to start over.

Is this calculator free and does it work offline?

It is free, with no signup. Once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection, and your settings and daily result stay in your browser’s local storage on your device.

Is this the official Fuel cost calculator app?

No. Trip Tank is an original tool we built, inspired by the job that app does. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to its publisher. For the Android app, use the download links above.
