Hole.io by Voodoo has passed 100 million installs on one simple idea: you are a hole in the ground, and anything smaller than you falls in. Cones lead to cars, cars lead to buses, and two minutes later you are eating skyscrapers. We wanted that feeling in a browser tab, so we built Gobble City, a 3D city you can swallow right on this page. It is free, with no download and no signup.
Play Gobble City now
Tap to start, then drag anywhere to steer. On a computer, move the mouse or use WASD. Sound starts muted.
How to play
You steer a vortex through a low-poly city. On a phone, put your finger down anywhere and drag: a joystick appears under your thumb. On a computer, the vortex follows the mouse, or you can use WASD or the arrow keys.
Anything whose footprint fits inside your vortex falls in. Each swallow adds points, points make you bigger, and every new size unlocks bigger things to eat. Five CPU vortexes, all labeled “CPU”, grow alongside you. A vortex that is at least 1.2 times bigger than another can swallow it. The loser drops to half its size and comes back two seconds later, so nobody is knocked out.
Rounds last two minutes. The highest score wins. Everyone gets the same city each day, seeded from the date, with three daily missions and a daily gift. Your best score, coins, and skins are saved on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.
Tips to grow faster
- Clear the small stuff first. At size 1 you can only eat cones, hydrants, benches, bushes, lamp posts, and small trees. Sidewalks and parks are packed with them. Cars open up at size 2.
- Hunt the cone clusters. Road works leave tight groups of traffic cones. Swallows less than 0.6 seconds apart build a combo: x2 after 3, x3 after 8, x4 after 14, and x5 after 20. Combos multiply your score, not your size, so they matter most for the leaderboard.
- Follow the parked cars. Once you hit size 2, the curbs are a buffet. Each car is worth 8 points, and they line up bumper to bumper.
- Know when buildings open up. Trucks and fountains fall in around size 3, buses at size 4, houses at size 5, shops at size 6, and towers from size 7. If a building wobbles on your rim, it is still too big. Go eat something else and come back.
- Use the boost pads. Orange rings sit at a few intersections. Rolling over one gives you 2.5 seconds at 1.6 times your speed, which is great for crossing a block to reach fresh food.
- Save something big for the end. The last 20 seconds are the final rush, and every point counts double. A tower you swallow then is worth twice as much.
- Watch the rivals’ size. Stay clear of any vortex that is 1.2 times bigger than yours. CPUs get bolder as the round goes on, and they will chase you once they have the size advantage.
Challenge a friend
At the end of a round, the Share button turns your score into a challenge link. The link carries everything: your score, today’s city, and a friendly handle like “Swift Otter”. No account and no server are involved.
When a friend opens a challenge link for the first time, they get a welcome gift of 150 coins and the Buddy skin. They play the same city you did, and the end screen tells them honestly whether they beat you. If they share their score back, their link becomes your reply. Open it on the device you played on and you collect 100 coins. Replies from 1, 3, and 5 different friends unlock three friend-only skins: Twin Orbit, Constellation, and Supernova.
Because there is no server, the reward only arrives when you open the reply link yourself, on the same browser. Opening your own link or the same reply twice pays nothing extra. Coins only buy cosmetic skins, and there is no real money anywhere in the game.
How it compares to Hole.io
Gobble City keeps the loop that made Hole.io a hit: a two-minute round, a city full of things to eat, and a hole that grows until whole buildings tip over the rim and drop. Objects that are too big wobble on the edge instead of falling. The camera pulls back as you grow, so the moment you swallow your first tower feels big.
The biggest difference is who you play against. Our rivals are five CPU vortexes, and the game labels them as CPUs everywhere. They seek out dense clusters, avoid bigger vortexes, and hunt smaller ones, but they are bots, and everything runs on your device. We added combos, boost pads, a final-rush bonus, and daily missions to give short rounds more strategy. We left out the extra modes and the paid extras.
That trade has upsides. There is no lag, because nothing waits on a server. The game runs offline once the page loads. And it keeps working when your connection drops. If you want the full experience of racing other people for the last building, get the real Hole.io below.
We have built other io-style games you can play in the browser too. Try our slither.io-style worm game, our Paper.io 2-style territory game, and our Agar.io-style cell game.

Frequently asked questions
Can I play Hole.io online?
Hole.io itself is a mobile app for Android and iOS. If you want the same swallow-the-city idea in a browser, Gobble City runs right on this page. It needs no install and no account, and it works on phones, tablets, and computers.
Is Hole.io free?
Yes. Hole.io is free to download and play, with ads and optional in-app purchases. Gobble City is free too. The game itself has no ads inside it, no purchases, and it sends no data anywhere. Its coins are earned in play and only buy cosmetic skins.
Is this the real Hole.io?
No. Gobble City is an original game we built around the same core idea. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Voodoo in any way. All art and sound are our own, and the download links above point to the official app.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded. Gobble City makes no network requests, and its CPU rivals run on your device, so a dropped connection changes nothing. Challenge links work the same way: the score lives inside the link itself.
How do I get bigger fast?
Eat every small object near you first, then move to the parked cars along the curbs as soon as you reach size 2. Chain quick swallows through cone clusters for combo points, use the orange boost pads to reach fresh blocks, and stay away from any vortex that is 1.2 times bigger than yours.
