Idle Miner Tycoon turned digging for gold into a game you never really stop playing. You tap a shaft, hire a manager, close the app, and come back later to a pile of gold that kept growing on its own. That “check in and cash out” rhythm is the whole appeal. We built Shaft Barons, a free original idle mining game that runs the same loop directly in your browser, no install and nothing to sign up for.
Play Shaft Barons now
Tap the glowing ore to mine by hand, then drag to look around the shaft. Best played with sound on.
How to play Shaft Barons
Tap or click a glowing ore vein to mine it by hand, and tap the elevator car as it passes to haul up a bonus load once a floor is producing on its own. Drag to look around, and use the arrow buttons, your mouse wheel, or the up and down arrow keys to move your view deeper into the shaft. Open the Shop panel to unlock new floors, hire managers who mine automatically, and upgrade your elevator so every floor pays out faster.
Every day brings one bonus vein, shown at the top of the screen, that pays double or triple gold on a specific floor. Close the tab and your mine keeps working: come back later and you’ll see a banner showing what your managers earned while you were away. Your gold, floors, and managers all save automatically to your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
How it compares to Idle Miner Tycoon
Shaft Barons keeps the mechanic we think actually hooks people: tap to mine, spend gold to unlock deeper floors and hire managers, then let those floors keep earning after you close the tab. The offline earnings math is real, not decorative. Leave the page for a few hours and the banner on your return reflects exactly what your current managers and elevator level would have produced, capped at a reasonable window so the number stays honest. The daily bonus vein gives you a reason to check in again tomorrow, the same way Idle Miner Tycoon’s random events do.
What we cut is everything built on top of that core loop over years of updates. There’s no roster of named managers to level up individually, no prestige or “super manager” reset system, no timed events or expedition mode, and no trading gold or ore with other players. Shaft Barons has fourteen floors, one elevator, and a single currency, not the sprawling meta-game the real app has grown into.
If you burn through Shaft Barons in an afternoon and want the deeper progression, the manager personalities, and the live events, that’s exactly when to grab the original. This is a free taste of the idle-mining loop, not a replacement for a game people have kept open in a background tab for years.

Idle Miner Tycoon is a free-to-play mobile game with far more depth than any browser build could hold: dozens of managers, a prestige system, limited-time events, and regular content updates. It’s available for Android through the Google Play Store and Aptoide.
FAQ
Can I play Idle Miner Tycoon in a browser?
Not the real one. Idle Miner Tycoon is a mobile app for Android and iOS with no official browser version. Shaft Barons, the game embedded above, is our own free browser game inspired by the same tap-and-upgrade idle loop, and it runs right here with nothing to install.
Is Shaft Barons the real Idle Miner Tycoon?
No. Shaft Barons is an original game built by the Unstore content team, with its own name, art, and mine. It’s not affiliated with, endorsed by, or made by Fluffy Fairy Games or the publishers of Idle Miner Tycoon. We built it to give readers a genuine feel for the idle-mining genre before deciding whether to grab the real app.
Does Shaft Barons work offline, and unblocked at school or work?
Once the page has loaded, yes. There are no ads and no network calls after that, and since it’s a normal web page rather than a game download, it runs anywhere a browser can reach this site, including places that block app stores or game downloads.
Is it free?
Completely. There’s no premium currency, no ads, and nothing to buy in Shaft Barons. Idle Miner Tycoon itself is also free to download and play, with optional in-app purchases for players who want to speed up progress.
Will I lose my mine if I close the tab?
No. Your gold, unlocked floors, and managers all save automatically to your browser’s local storage, and your mine keeps earning in the background math the moment you return, based on how long you were away. There’s no account to create and nothing to lose by closing the tab.
