Trackmania has spent two decades proving that racing games don’t need a career mode to be addictive. Just a short track, a car that turns on a coin, and a clock that makes you restart the instant you clip a wall. The whole loop is built around one urge: try again, right now, and shave off another tenth of a second. We built Ghost Line, a small original time trial that runs on that same urge, right here in your browser. No install, no Ubisoft account, no wait.
Play Ghost Line now
Tap to start driving. A new floating track generates every day, and your own best run comes back as a translucent ghost to race against.
How to play
On desktop, arrow keys or WASD steer and accelerate, and the down arrow or S brakes into corners. On a phone or tablet, drag the wheel at the bottom left to steer and hold GAS to go, with a BRAKE button next to it for tight turns. Press R, or tap the restart icon, to reset instantly. That instant restart is the whole point: mess up a corner and you’re back at the start line in under a second, no menu in between.
The route runs from a start gate to a checkered finish gate, passing three checkpoints along the way, and most runs take somewhere in the 20 to 45 second range depending on how clean your lines are. Drive off the edge of the floating ribbon and you fall back to your last checkpoint rather than all the way to the start. Once you finish a run, your time gets saved on this device, and the next run shows a translucent ghost car replaying your best lap so you can see exactly where you’re gaining or losing time. The track itself regenerates from the date, so everyone playing today races the same layout, and a new one shows up tomorrow. Nothing about your time or your ghost run ever leaves your browser.
How it compares to Trackmania
Ghost Line keeps the mechanic that makes Trackmania’s time-trial mode so hard to put down: a short, precise track, a car that responds instantly, checkpoints that mark your progress, and a ghost of your own best run to chase lap after lap. The restart-in-under-a-second loop is here too, because that’s the entire reason people open Trackmania for “just one more run” and look up an hour later.
What we left out is most of what turned Trackmania into a platform rather than a single game. There’s no track editor, so you can’t build and share your own layouts. There’s no online multiplayer or global leaderboards, no ghost data from other players, and no way to race anyone but yourself. There’s no car customization, no skins, and no paid Club subscription with extra campaigns and cosmetics, since Ghost Line has exactly one car and one free daily track. We also built our own track generator, car model, and physics from scratch rather than copying Nadeo’s actual tracks or vehicle.
If a few daily laps against your own ghost scratch the itch, Ghost Line will do that for free, forever. If you want to build tracks, race strangers on a global leaderboard, or chase the community’s weekly campaigns, that’s what the real Trackmania is for.

If you’re comparing kart and arcade racers more broadly, we also cover Trackmania alongside seven other options in our Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds alternatives roundup, including how its free tier stacks up against paid racers.
Bottom line: Play Ghost Line here for a free, no-install taste of chase-your-ghost time trials. Install the real Trackmania on Steam when you want a track editor, other players, and a season’s worth of official campaigns.
FAQ
Can I play Trackmania in a browser? Not the official game. Nadeo’s client is a Windows download through Steam or Ubisoft Connect. Ghost Line, the game on this page, is our own original time trial inspired by the same short-track, chase-your-ghost loop, and it runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile.
Is this the real Trackmania? No. Ghost Line is an original game built by our team, inspired by the core loop of precision time-trial racing. It isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by, or made by Nadeo or Ubisoft, and every track, car model, and line of code here is our own.
Does it work offline? Once the page has loaded, yes. The track, car, and physics all run locally with no external requests, so it keeps working without a connection. You do need one to load the page the first time.
Is it free? Yes, completely, with no signup and no in-app purchases. Trackmania’s Standard access is also free; its optional Club subscription is the paid tier for extra content.
Does my run data get uploaded anywhere? No. Your best time and your ghost run are saved with your browser’s local storage on your own device. We don’t collect them, and they don’t sync to any server.
