Voicemod turned “make my voice sound like a robot” into a whole category, and its Android app has millions of installs on the strength of that idea. Most people who search for it just want to hear the effect, right now, without installing anything. So we built Pitch Lab, a free voice effects tool that runs in your browser. Pick an effect, hit play, and it processes a demo phrase live. No signup, no waiting.
Play with Pitch Lab now
Tap Play to hear the built-in demo phrase through the selected effect. No microphone needed.
How to use it
Pick one of five effects: Chipmunk, Deep, Robot, Echo Chamber, or Radio. Each one applies to a short built-in demo phrase the instant you tap it, no permissions asked. Drag the Pitch slider to shift how high or low the voice sits, and the Effect intensity slider to push the chosen effect harder or pull it back. Both update the sound live, not on a delay. Tap Play any time to hear the current combination again, it takes under a second.
Want to hear your own voice instead? Tap “Record your voice instead” and allow microphone access for a 3-second clip, then it runs through the same effect chain. If you skip that or deny the permission, nothing breaks, the demo phrase keeps working exactly as before. Your last effect and slider settings are saved on your device, and nothing you record ever leaves your browser.
How it compares to Voicemod
Pitch Lab and Voicemod solve related but different problems. Voicemod’s real power is on desktop: it sits between your microphone and apps like Discord, OBS, or a game, transforming your voice live while you talk, so other people hear the effect in real time during a call or a stream. That is a genuinely different piece of engineering, a persistent audio driver working continuously in the background.
Pitch Lab does not attempt that. It processes a short built-in phrase, or a brief recording you make yourself, and plays the result back to you in the same tab. There is no live mic-to-app routing, no integration with Discord or games, and no continuous voice stream. What it keeps from the idea is the fun part: picking an effect and instantly hearing what your voice, or a stand-in demo voice, sounds like transformed.
If you just want to hear what a robot or chipmunk effect sounds like, or show a friend in ten seconds, Pitch Lab does the job with zero setup. If you want to actually sound different live in a Discord call or while streaming a game, that is squarely what the Voicemod desktop app is built for, and the Android app below covers its soundboard and companion features on your phone.
Get the Voicemod app
The Voicemod Android app is a soundboard and companion to the desktop voice changer, letting you trigger sound effects and clips from your phone. The full real-time voice-changing feature lives in the Voicemod desktop software for Windows and Mac.
Bottom line: Install the Voicemod app if you want soundboard clips on your phone or the real-time voice changer on desktop. Use Pitch Lab above if you just want to hear a fun voice effect in the next ten seconds.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a voice changer online without downloading anything?
Yes. Pitch Lab runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Tap Play and it processes the built-in demo phrase with your chosen effect immediately, no install and no account required.
Is this the real Voicemod?
No. Pitch Lab is an original tool we built, inspired by the idea of instant voice effects that Voicemod made popular. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Voicemod SL. If you want the official soundboard app or the real-time desktop voice changer, use the download links above.
Does this work like Voicemod in Discord or games?
No, and that is worth being upfront about. Voicemod’s real-time voice changing is a desktop feature that intercepts your live microphone and feeds the transformed audio into apps like Discord, OBS, or a game while you talk. Pitch Lab processes a short demo phrase or a brief recording and plays the result back in your browser tab. It does not route into any other app or stream continuously.
Do I need a microphone to use Pitch Lab?
No. The default experience uses a built-in demo phrase and needs zero permissions. Recording your own voice is entirely optional. If you skip it or deny microphone access, every effect still works exactly the same on the demo phrase.
Is Pitch Lab free?
Yes, completely free with no signup. It also works offline once the page has loaded, and any voice you record stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
